Basab joined Barclays Bank to set up the Global Corporates business in the Northern region of England, but in 2012, Basab was moved to his current assignment, a newly created role in London within the Global Corporates business. This is to lead a regional business development initiative in UK and EMEA for the India, Middle East and Africa corridors. A large focus is to facilitate the UK and EMEA businesses for large emerging global multinationals from India. The role involves working cross border across internal and external stakeholders to present an integrated corporate, investment banking and wealth management solutions to clients (corporate banking being his immediate remit).
